Orbital Cultura IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE ORBITAL CULTURA - NEXI GROUP AWARD with miart - International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art 2023.
The Orbital Cultura - Nexi Group award, created in collaboration with miart, the International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art (14-16 April 2023), is dedicated to photography with the aim to provide Italian historical museums with contemporary and high-quality images, to encourage a continuous exchange between past and present.
During the fair, one artist, selected among those represented by the galleries in the Established and Decades sections, will be awarded with Euro 10,000 for the commission of a photographic documentation work of the external buildings and common spaces of a museum complex. The first edition of the prize is dedicated to Gallerie degli Uffizi (Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, Giardino di Boboli, Corridoio Vasariano).
Our jury is made of:
Michele De Lucchi, architect, between the protagonists of avant-garde architecture and design since the 1970s. He has designed furniture for the most known Italian and European companies. He realized architectural projects in Italy and abroad, spanning from industrial to cultural landmarks. He is founder and member of AMDL CIRCLE, a multidisciplinary group of thinkers and innovators. Since 2018, AMDL CIRCLE focuses on Earth Stations, future sharing architectures that combine technological development with humanist principles.
Giovanna Silva, photographer and editor. In 2014, she participated in the Venice Architectural Biennale. Her works have been exhibited at MACRO, Rome, Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Venice, Triennale Milano, American Academy, Rome. She is on the editorial staff of the architecture magazine San Rocco and is the founder and editorial director of the publishing house Humboldt Books, which specializes in travel narratives and experiences that give life to interdisciplinary editorial projects by crossing geography and literature, photography and art. She teaches photography applied to publishing at ISIA Urbino, IUAV Venice and NABA Milan.
Francesco Zanot, curator and photographic critic, he has curated exhibitions and monographs of artists such as Mark Cohen, Guido Guidi, Olivo Barbieri, Takashi Homma, Linda Fregni Nagler, Boris Mikhailov, Carlo Mollino and many others. His latest publications are dedicated to the work of Luigi Ghirri, Alec Soth and Erik Kessels. Artistic director of the Biennale Foto/Industria organized by the MAST Foundation in Bologna, he is director of the Masters in Photography at NABA, Milan. He was curator of Camera – Centro Italiano di Fotografia, Turin and curated the inaugural exhibitions of the Prada Foundation Observatory in Milan.
